Happy New Year!

1) That 4th and 1 pass against Nebraska is one of my favorite sports memories ever. I had no rooting interest in the game, but that play was awesome. Awesome!

2) The 2006 Rose Bowl is also up there on my list of sports memories, also with me not having a rooting interest either way. That final play is one for the ages. (Every team I support is a constant source of pain and sadness; I live only vicariously through the happiness of others.)

3) Yes, Frank. We get it. The whole town gets it. Newcastle have been bad. But you didn't need to put them in the bottom position *twice* in the same image. That's just being mean. :-)

Watched the game from my couch. No rooting interest but was happy with the result.

Thanks for the no fi standings. You did that just to show that Spurs should be Top 4, but will find some heart wrenching way to end up 7th, right?

At this point, seeing as this is my inaugural season truly paying attention to PL football, why TF I chose Everton as my rooting interest. Well, I know WHY, a predisposition to supporting them because of past support for Tim Howard; a persuasive interview by Greg Proops, and some early season heroics by Demarai Gray....but more why did I choose the PL version of my beloved Mets. A glutton for punishment I say.

Was again hoping for some input from the gallery -- i'm obviously most familiar with american sports and their season/playoff structuring. In the EFL and Euro soccer in general, how do fans and players feel about the cup tourneys like the Champions league, Europa Cup, the FA cup? How do they compare to winning the Premier League? Would any be considered the equivalent of a World Series? Winning the division? Is one valued more than the others or just considered a nice bonus but not as important? Thank you all for any input!

I went to Purdue, I will never have joy at the end of a college sports season.

I guess my magic sports moment was on my couch, watching Keith Foulke snag the comebacker to end the 2004 World Series. My family goes back to 1905 in Boston so I saw something my great grandfather, grandfather, and father never saw - a Red Sox World Series victory. I watch the DVD retro of the season every year just before opening day. I still haven't made it through without tears.

I'm not into college sports anymore, though growing up south of Syracuse, i used to be a pretty big 'Cuse fan at a time when Donovan McNabb was coming up and, what would turn out to be my defining moment, when a young Carmelo Anthony was leading Syracuse to their championship in 2003.
